ROBERT
GLISSON "As a landscape painter, I am continuously trying to express a feeling or mood in nature; to get as close as I can to the "possession" of this beauty. I am not so concerned with a literal depiction of a scene but rather capturing an emotional response. My use of color is sometimes exaggerated in order to elicit emotion. Design decisions are made about what to leave in and what to take out of the picture. In the end, I want the viewer to look at my paintings and take a little journey through them... and a little pleasure.

Seneca Lake Beyond the Trees, 2016 Oil on canvas board 12 x 9 inches (framed: 17.375 x 14.375 x 1.25 inches) ROBERT GLISSON is a landscape painter whose process starts en plein air but is often finished in the studio. Glisson's landscapes explore the possibilities of shape and color. The resulting paintings edge close to abstraction and have a visceral sensibility that speaks to Glisson's appreciation of both the landscapes that capture his imagination and the materials he uses. Robert Glisson currently lives and works in Syracuse, New York where he finds inspiration in the beauty of upstate New York's Finger Lakes Region.
EXHIBIT A first presented Robert Glisson in the 2013 group exhibition, Here + Now, then again in 2014's Landscape / Structure where he was featured alongside artists Amy Greenan, Rob Lict, Megan Mette and Laura Von Rosk. Glisson presented his first solo show with Exhibit A titled, Eyeful, in 2016. |
